What Dadurday is
A free iPhone app for dads with kids at home who'd like a few more friends at the same stage. It's not a feed and it's not a forum. It's built to get him out of the house for a couple of hours with a few other dads.
- He tells it about his days off. His kids' ages, a few things he's into, and when he's usually off, including weekday mornings or "It changes week to week" if he works shifts.
- He waves at one thing another dad said. When that dad waves back, a chat opens. Nobody can start a one-on-one chat with him cold.
- He shows up. Small hangouts other dads host: coffee at the playground, a cookout, early fishing. Kids welcome or not is up to the host.
There's also a Community board where dads ask each other things, with an anonymous option when it's personal, and groups like Toddler dads, New to Houston and Co-parenting dads.
Why it's safe
The question every wife asks first. Here's what's true today.
Real accounts
Everyone signs in with Apple or Google and confirms they're 18 or older and a dad. A ban stays a ban, even if someone deletes the account and comes back.
No cold messages
A one-on-one chat only opens after both dads wave at each other.
The spot stays private
Other dads see a hangout's area. The exact spot is shared only with the dads who are in, on the morning of. If he and the host haven't waved at each other yet, the host has to let him in.
Report or block anyone
Every profile, photo, post and message can be reported, and a person reads every report. Blocking is instant and the other dad isn't told.
Nobody selling anything
Posts that try to sell something or share a phone number or link are held before they go up. Anyone pitching a business or an MLM is removed.
No address, ever
Other dads see a rough distance and a neighborhood, like "League City", never his address.
What other dads see about him
His first name and last initial, his age range, his neighborhood and a rough distance, his photos, his kids' ages, his answers to a few profile questions and when he's usually free. If he shares something like "New to the area" or "Co-parenting" with another dad, it shows up as something they have in common, and only to dads who share it.
If he says "I'm fine"
He probably is fine. He's also probably busy, a little out of practice, and not about to go looking for friends on his own. In a 2021 survey by the Survey Center on American Life, 15% of men said they had no close friends, up from 3% in 1990. He's in good company.
- Make it small. One coffee, a couple of hours, then home.
- Make it easy. Offer to cover the kids, or point out the hangouts that welcome them.
- Then drop it. Send the link once. He'll open it when he's ready.

Questions
Can I sign him up myself?
No. He signs in with his own Apple or Google account and confirms he's 18 or older and a dad or a dad-to-be. The best you can do is send him the link, which is plenty.
Can moms use Dadurday?
It's for dads, so only dads can join. But plenty of the push comes from moms, and this page is for you: send him the link and let him take it from there.
Is it a dating app?
No. It's for dads to make friends with other dads. There are no dating features, and anyone who uses it to sell something or recruit gets removed.
What does it cost?
Nothing. There are no ads, no paid tier and no sponsors, and his data isn't for sale.
We don't live near Clear Lake. Can he still use it?
Not yet. Dadurday opens one area at a time, starting with Clear Lake, League City and Webster in the Houston Bay Area, Texas. On an iPhone he can install it anyway and get a notification the day your area opens.
He has an Android phone. Now what?
Android isn't out yet. Leave your email on the home page's list so we know there's a dad waiting.
